Crater Creek Trailhead reopened

Aug 15, 2018

Hikers and horseback riders who enjoy the Crater Creek trailhead will be able to utilize that site for the next several weeks until the construction project for trailhead parking improvements is rescheduled. The temporary trailhead closure, which was originally slated to begin in early July, but has been postponed due to fire extreme danger.

“Due to our current Industrial Fire Precaution Level and the limitations on chainsaw and heavy equipment use, the selected contractor has opted not to begin work until fire danger moderates,” said Methow Valley District Ranger, Chris Furr. “With other trails on the district being closed due to wildfire activity, it just makes sense to open this trailhead temporarily to accommodate public use.”

Trailhead parking may remain open until mid to late September, however this could change if the Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) goes down prior to then. For more information of IFPL levels across the area call 1-800-527-3305 or visit https://fortress.wa.gov/dnr/protection/ifpl.
