Fall Prescribed Burning Planned on Methow Valley Ranger District

Methow Valley Ranger District crews expect to treat several hundred acres with prescribed fire this fall. The treatments, on National Forest lands near Twisp and Winthrop, are part of a comprehensive effort to reduce fuel loading and to provide needed benefits to ecosystems that rely on fire to thrive.

Prescribed fire is one of the tools used to treat areas where dense forest or heavy slash create an increased risk for catastrophic wildland fire.
