Fire District 6 plans “Jaws of Life” demonstration for July 4

Jun 24, 2013

Okanogan County Fire District 6 (Fire District 6) volunteers will demonstrate their new   vehicle extraction tools on July 4 in Twisp.  The car-cutting demonstration will be held at 209 East 2nd Ave. in Twisp - the vacant lot across from the Methow Valley Inn - following the Twisp parade.  The event is open to the public.

Fire District 6 uses these “Jaws of Life” tools on approximately one out of every five emergency responses to motor vehicle accidents.  The demonstration will provide an opportunity for the community to witness what volunteers for Fire District 6 do on an emergency response and ask questions, as well.

“These new tools were purchased with a $62,700 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency,” said Fire Chief Don Waller. “We work hard to win grants that will be a benefit to our taxpayers.”
