Fire Prompts Level 3 Evacuations on the Reservation

Okanogan County Emergency Management issued several evacuation notices Sunday night and early Monday morning as a wind driven fire burned in the Cameron Lake area.  The fire was quite visible from Omak and the surrounding area.

Level 2 evacuations were issued around 11pm Sunday for the Cameron Lake area. Level 3 orders were issued for the area around 2:30am Monday.  

A second set of Level 3 orders were issued shortly after 4am Monday:

 Fire is burning on the Colville Reservation near the Cameron Lake area and is rapidly moving south towards the Columbia River.
 
This is a Level 3 Evacuation, it is for persons west of Timm Road along the Columbia River to State Route 17 and north on State Route 97 to Malott.
 
Persons should be aware of their surroundings and take action NOW.
 
Persons should evacuate towards State Route 17 and 97 away from the fire.
 
High winds are predicted to continue and to increase throughout the morning.
 
Take action NOW, do not wait for Door to Door notification.
 
Persons needing to evacuate live stock can use the Okanogan County Fair Grounds 509-322-1621
 
Persons needing shelter should contact the Red Cross 509-670-5331.
