Help Fight hunger with Community Action Council Gleaning Program

Aug 14, 2018

The Okanogan County Community Action Council Food and Nutrition programs are ready to fight hunger experienced by so many families,  as volunteers harvest (glean) fruits and vegetables that are excess for local farmers and gardeners. Whether you have a few trees or an orchard…OCCAC gleaning teams will come to your location and gather food to help in the campaign against hunger in Okanogan County.  Ron Lahr at OCCAC is overseeing the Gleaning program and says: “We do the work and you, the grower, can receive a tax deduction as well as the benefit of helping your community – It’s a win-win!”

"OCCAC is ready to coordinate the mission to retrieve fruit and vegetables that might otherwise go unpicked. No mission is too small” said Lahr.

The gleaning program is also seeking volunteers and always accepts donations of edible produce for food bank distribution.
