House Fire Spreads to Brush, Threatening 10 Homes Near Oroville

Sep 13, 2017

A wildfire burning north east of Oroville has grown to over 32 acres as of this morning.

Okanogan County Emergency Manager, Maurice Goodall, said the fire started from a house fire on Blue Grouse road in the Nine Mile area.

Goodall said everyone who was in the home was safe, but the house was completely destroyed.

Authorities said an emergency notification message has been sent out to 10 homes south of the fire since the winds are coming out of the north and a Deputy is also going door to door notifying residents in the area.

Local fire units from District 11, Oroville Fire and Washington Department of Resources crews responded with engines, dozers and one helicopter.

Goodall said this morning that crews had an indirect line all the way around that fire and were working to get it completely out before the predicted winds picked up this afternoon.

DNR crews remain on scene.
