Keller Man Killed in Crash Near Republic

A Keller man died Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident about 7 miles west of Republic on Highway 20.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 67-year-old Dwight G. McKay, was attempting a left-hand turn onto the westbound lane from a private driveway when his car was struck by an eastbound pickup truck driven by 25-year-old Joshua D. Burbank, of Republic.

The State Patrol report says McKay, who was not wearing his seatbelt, died at the scene.

Burbank, who was wearing his seatbelt was not injured. A passenger in his pickup, 7-year-old Thomas L. Burbank, of Republic, was taken to Ferry County Hospital for treatment of bumps and bruises. He was also wearing his seatbelt.

Both vehicles were destroyed in the accident that occurred around 2:20 p.m.
