New Board Member Appointed

Dec 07, 2017

With Yvette Hill’s term ending, Omak School District Board Position 4 was appointed to Gary George.

George is the Road Maintenance Manager for Okanogan County Public Works, so has experience in government funding, large budgets and a construction background.

George, an Okanogan High School graduate, is married to Melissa George, a teacher at East Omak Elementary (who is an Omak grad). They have two daughters - one graduated from Omak two years ago, and one will graduate this coming June.

George said his big concern for the district is the undersized and aging infrastructure. He wants to make sure plans are in place to address all that.

Communication is another big concern of his, making sure that the public is informed and the district is transparent.

With his family invested in the area, George said they intend to be here the rest of their lives, and the school district is an important part of their community.

Hill said she has valued her six years as a school board member.

“It was a great experience, and I know I’m leaving the district in very capable hands,” she said.
