Officer Injured in Two Vehicle Accident

Jan 10, 2018

Omak Police officer Jerod Gavin is recovering from minor injuries he received in a two-vehicle accident that occurred January 9 at approx. 2 p.m. at the corner of W 4th Avenue and S Cedar Street.

The accident occurred when officers were responding with lights and sirens to an emergency call at Mid-Valley Hospital concerning an out of control and combative  patient who was there for a mental health evaluation.  When problems escalated law enforcement officers were called to the hospital.

While enroute to the call a mini-van attempted to cross Fourth Avenue in front of Officer Gavin’s patrol vehicle and the mini-van was struck in the passenger side.  The mini-van was driven by Jennifer Hansen, 40, Omak.

Hansen refused transport by ambulance.   Gavin was transported to the hospital by ambulance and was released from the hospital a short time later.  Any injuries to Gavin and Hansen are believed to be minor at this time.  Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident.  The collision remains under investigation.
