Oroville Girl Dies in Rollover Accident

A 9-year-old Oroville girl died in a car crash near Mossy Rock Road, just south of the bridge in Oroville Monday night.

The Washington State Patrol says a 2004 Subaru Legacy was being driven by 19-year-old Oroville woman was heading northbound on Highway 97 when she failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway and went into the ditch, rolled and came to a stop in a private driveway. Oroville Fire Department had to cut the roof off to extract the two inside.

The child was transported to North Valley Hospital where she was declared dead. The driver was also injured and transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Both the driver and the 9-year-old was wearing their seatbelts.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved and no charges will be filed.
