Fire officials say this morning that the Salmon Fire has grown to over 1000 acres in size.

Okanogan County Emergency Manager Scott Miller said the fire is fairly well contained on the Salmon Creek Road side to the west, and has now burned down to Green Lake Road on the east. He said crews will be working today to keep it from moving to the north. He said winds forecast for today are supposed to be coming from the north, which should push the fire back onto itself, so that should help.

A type three incident team has taken over command of the fire.

Miller said there were at least 50 personnel at the briefing this morning and additional resources are coming in today.

No structures have been damaged. Officials gave level one evacuation notices to five homes last night, a level one notice is just a warning that there is a fire in the area. Miller said there were an additional 10 homes in the south Green Lake Road area that are now under that same notice. He said, no one has been asked to leave at this time.

Miller said last night, that there are three roads in the area that are closed, the Green Lake Road, Happy Hill Road, and Salmon Creek Road from Happy Hill Road to Green Lake Road. We do not know of additional closures at this time.
The fire started late Monday afternoon, and the cause is still unknown.
