Feb 08, 2018

Loup Loup Ski Bowl is excited to announce a very special visit from Christian Niccum, a three-time Olympic Luge athlete to Loup Loup's Bear Mountain Luge facility, the only natural track Luge facility in the western US.

Christian Niccum, formerly a Woodinville, WA resident and now resides in Mukilteo, WA, is a four-time Junior World Champion, six time World Cup medalist, and was a member of the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Olympic teams competing in both men's single Luge and men's double Luge.

Christian will be visiting Loup Loup Ski Bowl on February 10, 2018 in support of this new sport and venue located between the beautiful Methow and Okanogan Valleys. Christian will also address athletes competing in the Wolf Chase junior alpine ski race on this same day relating his Olympic experience.

Loup Loup is excited to offer this new sport to the Northwest, and is indeed the very first area in the Western US to add Luge Sledding!

Luge Sledding is an exciting new sport to the Northwest that everyone can enjoy!  This sport is very popular in Europe, and the Loup expects will be equally popular here as another winter recreational option for current outdoor enthusiasts, as well as those looking for new winter sport opportunities they can enjoy immediately. Brand new this year is Snowcat service to the Bear Mountain trail system dedicated for Luge Sledding, featuring a ride up of 5 km and more than 1200’ of elevation gain, and more than 12 km of Luge sledding trails for an exciting sled ride down.

Loup Loup has Luge Sleds available for rent at the Loup Loup ticket counter. The Loup also offers free instructional clinics on how to Luge Sled safely. Luge Sledding is open on Bear Mountain on weekends and during holiday weeks.
