Tonasket Planning Commission Schedules March 16, 2021 Public Workshop to Kick-off Process to Amend the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Code and Other Implementing Regulations

Feb 18, 2021

The City of Tonasket Planning Commission is holding a Public Workshop on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 3:00 pm via Zoom– (link will be available on City Website) to kick off a process to review and revise the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Code (Title 17 Tonasket Municipal Code), and other implementing regulations as may be required. The purpose of the workshop is to provide an overview of the existing plan and update process, and solicit comments from the public on land use related issues.

Proposed amendments will be identified by the City Council, City Staff, Planning Commission and/or the public. The following items are under consideration for inclusion in the 2021 amendment process: review of regulations regarding Accessory Dwelling Units to consider changes to allow for detached accessory dwellings, modification of ownership requirements and related items. The intent of the March 16th workshop is to identify any other issues for the Planning Commission to consider as it begins the annual process for reviewing and revising the Comprehensive Plan and development regulations. Kurt Danison of Highlands Associates, the City’s planner, will facilitate the workshop and will present an overview of the review process.

The City wants its development regulations to accurately reflect the needs and desires of the community. As your local planning body, Planning Commission members rely on residents, business owners, and citizens to provide input as part of the process. The existing comprehensive plan and zoning code are available for download on the City’s website: (www.tonasketwa.gov).

If you would like to discuss the updates and amendments, contact Clerk Alice Attwood at 486-2132 or Kurt Danison, Highlands Associates at 322-4037.
