UPDATED Important Announcement for Ferry County.

Sep 02, 2015

Updated 9-3-2015: North Cascades Broadcasting has been notified today through legal counsel that the FCC has decided to allow the translator for Ferry County at 101.9 FM to remain on the air on a week to week basis during the current Fire Emergency.

Original announcement:

Earlier this week North Cascades Broadcasting was contacted by the Federal Communication Commission field office regarding the FM Translator operating in Republic Washington on 101.9 FM.

The agent told us that the translator license had been cancelled several years ago at the request of the license holder at the time.

Normally, after a license like this one is cancelled the translator is taken off the air permanently, or at least until other arrangements can be made.

Because of the emergency fire situation in our area North Cascades Broadcasting asked that the FCC make an exception to allow time to correct the problem.   The FCC turned down this request and ordered that the translator turned off.

As a result of this FCC order, 101.9 FM will no longer be heard in Ferry County as the translator will be leaving the air in the next few days, perhaps as soon as September 3rd.

This announcement is being made to make sure that the public is informed about this important change in local radio coverage and emergency information for Ferry County.

For more information please contact the North Cascades Broadcasting at 509 826-0100 or 1 800 725-5669.
