Holiday DUI Patrols Start Today

Dec 15, 2016

The Washington State Patrol along with local law enforcement agencies will have extra patrols out from December 15 to January 1 focusing on impaired drivers.  Funded by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, Holiday DUI patrols strive to put high visibility enforcement on our local roadways.  Impaired driving is a leading cause of traffic fatalities in Washington State.

The holiday season is a time when family and friends get together and celebrate.  On average, there are 40 lives lost in traffic collisions every December.  The Washington State Patrol’s goal is to prevent any serious injury or fatality collisions this holiday season.  “We can’t do it alone.  We need everyone’s involvement and assistance to make this one of the safest holiday seasons ever,” said District 6 Commander Captain Rob Huss.

There is no acceptable number of traffic fatalities in Washington State.  The Washington State Patrol maintains its commitment to reach its Target Zero goal of zero traffic fatalities by 2030.

Buckle up, drive for the conditions and never drive impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.  Be responsible and arrange for a sober ride.  Do your part and prevent a friend or family member from driving if they are not safe to do so.  You can save a life.

If you see a driver you believe to be impaired or driving aggressively, please call 911 with the vehicle’s description, direction of travel and license plate number if possible.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!
